The Adirondack Mountains offer great winter fun, especially on her frozen lakes mid-winter. The Big Moose Inn and Restaurant is located on the edge of a otherwise private lake in the central Adirondacks. After a day of Snowmobiling, Snowshoeing, Webbing and Cross-Country Skiing through Old Forge New York, and around Big Moose Lake, hang your winter jackets and sit by the Big Moose Inn fireplace or woodstove and enjoy the ambiance, the food, the ale and our Adirondack lake country inn! Last summer, five different families had get together/reunions at the Inn and, without exception, raved about their experience. We have wonderful letters telling us what a great time everybody had. People came from as far away as Spain to spend time with family members. With 16 rooms the Inn is the perfect size for a reunion or a special family event (for one family it was the 60th wedding anniversary of their parents that brought everyone together).

We're excited that Chef Leila Mayer has joined us. A graduate from the CIA she brings with her over 25 years of experience and creativity. She will be running the kitchen with the help of Jim and Adam, who were a great part of our successful summer. Our winter dining room and tavern menus will be online soon. Lauren Sleeger, Restaurant Manager, has decided to stay on with us full time, she did a magnificent job for us this summer and we are proud to have her with us for the winter season.

The Inn will be open for Thanksgiving Dinner on Thursday, November 25th. Reservations are required. Rooms will be available starting December 10th, 2010 and the Restaurant and Tavern will open for the winter season on December 26th, 2010. Updates on hours of operations will be posted soon.

Your visit to the Big Moose Inn will immerse you in the true heart of Adirondack life any season of the year. This Adirondack Inn is part of the colorful history of the Adirondack Mountains and the Big Moose Lake.

The area is renown for abundant wildlife including bear, deer, wild turkeys, coyotes and moose - which are making their way back to the area. The lake is home to loons and it is common to see eagles soaring about. We supply our guests with canoes and kayaks in which to enjoy peaceful morning or evening glides along the lake.

There are regular events scheduled both at the Inn and at surrounding venues. Be sure and check out the calendar of events for both Inlet, New York, just a few miles to the north on 28 and Old Forge, to our south. Our links page will provide you with plenty of information on area activities. If you find something in particular you are interested in, feel free to ask us about putting together a package deal just for your party, we'd be happy to do that.
